Evangelical Lutheran Church in America OKs practicing gays & lesbians to serve as ministers

Yahoo News reported today that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America voted to lift ban to allow practicing homosexual persons to serve as ministers.

"I have seen these same-gender relationships function in the same way as heterosexual relationships — bringing joy and blessings as well as trials and hardships," the Rev. Leslie Williamson, associate pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, Ill., said during the hours of debate. "The same-gender couples I know live in love and faithfulness and are called to proclaim the word of God as are all of us (Yahoo News)."

Thank God the ELCA ceased to be relevant years ago. Do they really think the extra coins in the coffer are worth betraying God? It didn't work out so well for Judas.

I wonder if the full time jobs are what's driving these 'unorthodoxy". What if priests had regular jobs? and then evangelize during off hours and Church was at their house on Sundays - could this help minimize the "compromises"?

Who are they praying to? Not the true God of the Bible. He was spectacularly clear:

100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior denounce it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.

100% of the verses referencing God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.

100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).

0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions.

We are all going to see what the church really looks like. The Lutherans and Presbyterians are not it, not to label all their members as un-christian, but they think they can change what the Bible says with a few more votes by their constituents.

The Bible is the foundation of our beliefs not the un-popular opionions of politically correct interest groups and elite politicians.

The more people leave orthodoxy and the more people declare themselves non-Christians - the Healthier the Church becomes.
