DanIf those monks are following the example of the Buddha, they left their families to fend for themselves.

#1 question of Buddhism: Why do you desire to end desire?

marieall jokes aside, I find it very hard to judge someone elses religion. I haven't walked a day in their shoes not alone a second.

who is to say where love can manifest? Love can show its face anywhere!
Ask God to show you love in a rock and God will, its beyond understanding at times.

all i'm saying is that i don't agree with what you wrote about buddhist thats comming from a Christian.

DanThanks for writing Marie.

You haven't walked a day in my shoes, so how can you say my religion is wrong?

My religion says Buddhism is false.

You find it hard to judge someone else's religion, but you judge mine two paragraphs later.

NeilExcellent summary. Buddah and Jesus can't both be right on the critical issues of life. I find Jesus to be much more persuasive.

If Buddhists are in search of enlightenment, they're definitely way off.

If, in their enlightenment, they call for freedom for Tibet, why in the world would any Christian quibble?

Think about what you're saying.
Any flag-waving, American Christian should be on the side of the Dalai Lama in this case. I'm shocked that you would not recognize support of the murderous Communist Chinese government as an error.

EdgarHi Ed,

I personally support the buddhists protests against the cultural genocide as well as the human civil rights violations and murders.

I am simply criticizing the buddhist worldview as a whole. It all sounds really sophisticated on TV but it is unlivable.

DanEI, with the upcoming Olympics, I wonder how many corporate sponsors, national governments or media outlets will formally protest the actions of the Chinese. There are yuan to be made, so I'm guessing very few.

TimothyI always find it odd that so many criticize Christians when we criticize false religions. We ARE living out our faith. Our faith requires that we both: announce the truth AND declare that which is false as false. This is what the Bible is filled with, both the declarations of that which is true, and the declarations of that which is false.

Yes, Dali and his pals are living a lie. The truth is found in Christ, dying to oneself and living to Christ. Not desiring to lose our desire. But desiring what is pleasing to God. He gave us those desires for a reason.
Blessings

DanWhy is meditation in the lotus position constantly portrayed on TV as "enlightened", while one will almost never see Christian meditation portrayed? I see commercials several times per day of some hipster doing yoga. I can't recall the last time I've seen a Christian shown meditating on God's word.

PS This is a rhetorical question of course. I know full well the culture is enamored with anything that comes from east of Prague or south of the Rio Grande. Liberal guilt expresses itself in many ways.

pcmepaohh hoo..
Im not a christian.. but as a Buddhist we never criticize any other religion including christians. And we sympathize you.. no one likes to say that their religion is wrong.. that why you all are talking for Jesus. but no one can say buddhism is wrong.. its SCIENCE, simply its the TRUTH!! Lord Buddha never said that he created the world..it's completely joke according to science. but Buddha said its evolution.
About the 'Desire', it's not what it seems on the surface. its deep. if you have ever learnt about it you will get the answer.
And the base of buddhism is 'Questioning'. if you have a question, your free to ask. because buddism has a unbeatable answer for every question. if you have questions, goto a temple and question about it from a buddhist monk.

and may i ask you all a question??
you do every christian hates buddhism??
why is this thread created?? in here Sri Lanka christians spend lotsa money to make Buddhist,christians..
but buddhist never do them. we never insult christians or anyone. but thousands of people who have searched about the buddhism become buddhists.BECEAUSE ITS THE NOBEL TRUTH!!
and finally if you dont know about buddism please go and learn something and argue.
This thread shows your 'Jealousy'....
don't be so hypocritical.. we never insult your religion.. SO TRY TO BE A GENTLEMEN!!!!!!
