This is why I wish the Muslim community will rise in the US and demand a 40-day Ramadan national holiday.

Happy Ramadan!

A couple of things...

And yes - one could say it's karma
Isn't Karma a Buddhist idea...lol?

This is why we shouldn't have publicly-funded schools
Could you imagine the kind of nonsense that would be taught in shools if they were publicly funded? New Earth Creationism, Religious Fundamentalism, Political Fundamentalism. Some rich benofactor would be able to influence what children are taught, purely because they can fund it?

Publicly funded schools have their flaws, but they are the best way of educating.

As for the thread, I couldn't agree more. Yes Christianity hijacked the pagan holiday, (likewise at Easter), but that doesn't detract from the fact that CHRISTmas is now recognised as a CHRISTian festival. Surely there's a hint in the name?

The thing about all these PC changes is that they are usually made to stop offence from being caused, not beause they caused offence. I haven't heard any Muslim, Hindu, Sikh or other religious people making complaints or saying they are offended, at least not here in the UK. In fact after such changes are made, there are usually non Christain leaders speaking out and agreeing that it is ridiculous.

I'm an Atheist and I have absolutely no problems with Christmas, (it gets me time off work). When my daughter was at Primary School and they did The Nativety every year, I had no problems with her taking part. (She was usually the narrator due to having a reading age of 14 when she was 9).

I don't have to believe it is true, but it is part of my culture and I enjoy it.

LEAVE CHRISTMAS ALONE!!!
