Mormonism 101
By Edgar on Jan 21, 2006 | 1374 viewsMormonism 101 has quite a following not only in the Christian community but also in the Mormon one. Because there is plenty of online material on the book, I will simply highlight the following four points:
Though the book is not an in depth study (tektonics.org), it provides a brief introduction to Mormonism while contrasting it to Christianity.
The People of Color? To read about the Mormon Church and their use of derogatory and offensive language against the people of color is disturbing (McKeever, pp. 234-236). You can read the Mormon defense on this particular chapter here: Mormonism 201 Chapter 16 Response.

The Prophets & Apostles McKeever & Johnson document how LDS prophets/apostles have changed their minds and/or doctrine when they become undesirable. This usually happens via a new revelation given to an LDS leader. e.g. the priesthood for people of color (Id, 240) and polygamy (Id, 245-247).
Going to Heaven McKeever & Johnson also point out that non-Mormons have little to lose according to Mormon doctrine. Though Christians wouldn’t be eligible to become Gods, we would still enjoy life in a "terrestrial or telestial kingdoms, depending on how life was lived on earth (Id, 276)."
Finally, it is important to note that nobody, neither Mormon or Christian, will be converted by a book or argument. It is only God who can bring people to the Christian faith (john 6:43-60). Take the time to read on your own and make up your own mind on the various issues. The book is a good start.
